Francesca Ranalli/Ugovern

I am an architect and urbanist with research expertise in participatory and creative methods for intergenerational communities, including youth and a gendered lens on care and commuting patterns. I recently completed my second postdoctoral research position at Utrecht University (UU), following my former postdoc within the Trustmaking project at TU Delft. During my 9 years of professional experience within my own firm, I developed urban plans for sustainable mobility. After that, I moved into research and completed my PhD at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), funded by the Gemeente Almere and Kerckebosch Zeist. My action-based projects, Hacking Urban Boundaries, earned me the Isaac Roet Prize, grants from the Centre for Urban Studies (CUS), Institutions for Open Society for my gender perspective on care, and an EU-funded project (E)motion. In my recent work, I researched youth and gender care as social infrastructures through sustainable working and commuting patterns.
